Sparkle & The NOHS

I had not really paid attention to the AKC's National Owner-Handled Series (NOHS). I guess I saw it as a consolation round - a bone tossed to those of us who show our own dogs. I maybe even viewed the NOHS as an acknowledgment that Owner-Handled Dogs couldn't compete with those handled by professional handlers. A "less than" kind of place. As is often true -- I was wrong.

The Gift We Never Want

I let Zoey outside and she apparently saw a zombie in the dark and started barking. Who wouldn't bark at a zombie?!

In Threes?

I do not know what to make of this news -- I suspect it is just one of those rare events that both defies explanation, and compounds sorrow: Another D Litter dog has left the earth -- three in the space of about a week.

Genetics

George P. Pipster is doing a draft test this weekend -- pass or not, that is a success in my book!! Great Job, Team George :) Pat Long was there yesterday and took these two photos...

And Now We Wait...

Discussions about the planned litter are not a solicitation for potential puppy owners -- the list for Sparklers has long been quite full. In fact, a list for Sparkle's second litter (planned for 2018) is already underway. As I told a man yesterday, if you can find someone with available puppies on the ground you probably don't want one from the litter. There are exceptions, of course, but getting puppies from reputable breeders is usually a long process and not a one-call event.
