Day Six (Collage added)

Let's start with a special congratulatory shout out to Marti and Maverick (C Litter so great-uncle to puppies) -- after lots of twists and turns on their agility journey, Maverick got his first Q yesterday in Jumpers -- Hooray!!!!!!! Great Job, Team M & M!!!!! (click Read more or the title)

Day Five

Sometimes it is hard not to feel judgmental -- that sense that what someone is doing is wrong or bad, and thinking less of a person as a result. I think it is okay to judge -- which to me means to discern what we think about something -- but I am uncomfortable when I find myself being judgmental.

Yesterday I heard about someone who left newborn puppies at home with the neighbor checking in on them a couple times a day because she did not want to miss a trial (show) and justified it by saying that the mom does all the work in the first week. I never met the person but I assure you she cannot be in our club! And oh yes -- I was feeling extremely judgmental. (click Read more or the title)

Day Four

6:30 a.m.

Syd is the same -- temp about 103 and seems fine otherwise. She is drinking A LOT and we will work hard to get more fluids in her -- good ideas from the comments so thanks :)

Having a litter feels just saturating -- it is like house arrest with lots of laundry and not enough sleep! I think it is especially like this because it is the first week, and the need for vigilance is high. Those puppies feel like a treasure entrusted to us, and ones that need careful guarding (and protection from their own suicidal tendencies!). (Click Read More or the title)

Day Three (Collage Added)

6:30 a.m.

Another one of the scary, fragile days of Week One -- but so far everything is going very well. Puppies are gaining nicely -- the current chunk is Barcelona at 20.9 ounces, and Squeaker is second at 18.95. I still cannot get over Squeaker's miraculous comeback -- a good reminder not to give up and that panic can be a very good thing (right, Heidi?!). Note: Click Read more to see full entry.

Day Two (Collage Added!)

Things are going well here at Puppy Central. All puppies are growing nicely, Syd is happy and well, the other dogs are settling down a bit, and the humans have slept (Dear Husband is sleeping now since he had the night puppy watch shift) -- what more could we ask? Pictures, maybe?

During the day I will update this Blog entry with all Day Two pictures and news. I will note the time of the update so you can scroll past if you have already read/seen it.

Official Collage!

Thanks to Terri Z. for the official collage!

Day One Pictures & etc.

I will add all photos of Day One to this Blog --  so check this for pictures...

Not for Sissies

It quickly became apparent at work that Syd was in early labor so I cancelled class and headed home. Her water broke about ten minutes from home and since I was alone (Dear Husband still in Utah), I went straight to my vet. I cannot say enough good things about them -- they gave me a space and supplied warm towels and help and etc. and within 20 - 30 minutes of our arrival we had the first puppy, and thirty minutes later we had a second boy.

Puppies are coming. Take Your Very Pregnant Dog to Work Day was ended early, water broke in car, made it to our vet's and she is pushing. No temp drop at all. Yikes.

Monday Night Report: Not Tomorrow

We have made it through Monday with no temperature drop -- here is the chart on the frig:
