Sunday Fun

First things first -- HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOBY!!!! I hope she will humor us (and make Barbz extra happy) with a birthday crown picture :)

I received pictures of both Tag.doc and Tristan yesterday -- so fun to see how the iPups are growing up! Here is Tag...

...and Tristan...

Thank you to Alison and Tina! In other iBoy News -- Nikko J is quite recovered from his misadventures with the bone -- whew!

Sparkle thinks life is a bit boring these days given my mobility limitations. However, she is perfecting her retrieving skills and has developed special expertise in finding just the right pine cones to chew up.

Being unable to walk has been quite an eye opening experience. I use a borrowed scooter thing to get around -- my left knee rests on a pad and I use my right leg to scoot. It is not as easy as it looks, and I find that I have new anxieties as I make my way around campus.

People on bikes go too fast and that is scary. Small rocks and sticks have the potential to stop the scooter and send me tumbling so I have to be vigilant in watching for surface hazards. The bricks in the oval that Asia tracked along for her VST are lovely but are a complete and bumpy disaster for those of us with wheels, crutches, and the like. Ramps are too steep -- yikes! And I have never needed to notice where the ramps are before so I feel lost a lot.

On the positive side, I can use elevators without guilt and I get to park in prime (handicapped) spots. Oh -- and I can teach my classes while sitting -- that is kind of fun.

But even though I appreciate my new understanding of accessibility issues and the minor benefits associated with limited mobility, I will be SO happy to be able to walk again. And I will never ever take that privilege for granted again! Sixteen more days until I am scheduled to be a biped. In the meantime, I am dreaming and planning all the things I want to do when Scooter and I part company :)

I hope you have a delightful day in honor of Toby's birthday and your ability to walk! Send pictures of your fun :)

Sleepyhead Faith from the F Litter...

It is iBoy Day! Here we have Kidd helping his mom water the roses...

Thank goodness for Kidd -- the hose has been conquered!

From Toby's birthday party!

Yay! Thank you, Toby!

This is Zoey coming up from under the table to say hi to me...

As always I enjoy the pics on your blog. I can't
Imagine not being able to walk - I work with
students & co-workers, whose lives are physically
& otherwise challenging. Sometimes I just cry
when I leave work. Most of the time I am inspired by them.
Having a limitation can open us to appreciating.
Finally, I wanted to let everyone know that the
pup whose outdoor pen was covered in feces has
A cleaned pen! We were able to talk to the owners who
Took action. While I wish the pup could have a
better home, I am relieved to know her outdoor area
is in decent shape. Thank you to all who offered
Ideas that might help her. I'll advocate for her again
if needed.
