Ribbons and a Ponder Point

Happy Anniversary to my Dear Husband! And Happy Birthday to my cousin, Julie! And Happy Day to everyone else :)

And speaking of happy -- check out our very own Tristan!

Tristan (and Alison) passed the Canine Good Citizen test -- whew! And we all thought Alison was raising a juvenile delinquent ;)

Congratulations to Tristan and Alison -- blue and yellow look very nice on an iPup :)

And speaking of ribbons -- I posted this question on Facebook but offer it here as well for your consideration. Lame is defined by AKC as "...any irregularity of locomotion" (Obedience/Rally Regs). A lame dog is ineligible to be shown in obedience/rally. If you do it anyway, are you cheating? Or is it only cheating if the judge excuses you? In other words, whose job is it to make sure we follow the rules?

I think this is very interesting. If I know my dog is lame and I load him up on meds and/or hope the judge overlooks the gimp -- am I a cheater? Or is the determination of cheating external to me -- in other words, it is not cheating unless you get caught.

And it is not just about a dog who limps -- is it cheating to dye a dog if one is not caught? Put a bitch on Cheque Drops to add coat/bulk?

I do not have all or even most of the answers -- and I know it is not always black and white but I do think it is good and important to think about these kind of things. It is like moral and ethical exercise for our minds :)

. . . . just under the surface, and usually airborne.

TOO FUNNY! Do we have any other leaping iPups?! I posted Tristan's picture on Facebook and Marjorie C. wondered how he was able to keep all four feet on the ground to get through the test ;) His reputation is already apparently well underway!

Well . . . . I did take Tris for a mile and a half walk just before leaving that morning, to take some of the edge off. It did seem to help - he was rock solid and relaxed on his 3 minute out of sight stay with the Tester.

Yeah Mary-Ann, it's all positive from here. Congratulations Alison. With puppies as busy as some of these ipups, a darn good accomplishment. Ava is an airborne queen. She is agile and fast. She can go up the stairs backwards, do any of the other puppies do that? She is a bit of a clown and keeps us laughing..

Wow, I'm impressed at Ava's talent of backing up stairs, Kathy. Tris will back onto the first step to imitate his agility contacts but I've never tried to back him further. Now there's a fun project for a rainy day, so it looks like I'll be experimenting soon : ) Great exercise for the pups, for brains and bodies.

She is so pretty.

Yup. Every night back up the stairs. Why go up head first? Kidd is miserable tonight though. His sister is in season and it is hot here. Poor boy.

Lameness and cheating is no joking matter, but when I read this part "and I know it is not always black and white" I thought to myself, No, it's black and white and rust!

Forgive me, it's just where my mind was at..
