Day 19

We now resume Sunday. Jake and Cassie are on their way back to Utah and so it will be Dear Husband and I doing the video later today -- after it warms up a bit. In the meantime, here are some pictures that I just took...

Two puppies have the smallest of swiss kisses -- those white marks on the back of the neck. This is Pippi and you have to look very closely to see the white hairs...

And here is the front of Pippi with Syd...

I love it when the puppies sit in front of Syd -- I know they are just trying to figure out how to jump up on her :)

Just two cute puppies -- one wants to play and one wants to nap...

The play is getting less awkward...

This morning I was sitting in the whelping box trimming little toenails and something happened for the first time -- puppies walked over and climbed in my lap!!! SO CUTE!!!! London was the first, followed by Heidi and Pippi -- here is one sound asleep on my lap with her newly trimmed nails...

And the official Day 19 Puppy Pile! It is sure growing, isn't it?!

I hope your Sunday is going as you wish :)

11:00 a.m.

Elizabethanne is so right -- gender sterotyping is a dangerous practice! That is why Cassie and I made sure to help Bob get in touch with his feminine side as well -- of course, we are unsure of Bob's true gender so were not quite sure which costume was appropriate but the take home message is that BOTH are appropriate for everyone! So be a fairy princess firefighter :) I am sure there is a good H-Moon name in all that...

4:30 p.m.

It is a fascinating (albeit time consuming) thing to make a puppy video. I tried to make it outside but that made the puppies a little anxious -- they made nervous noises and circled around on their tummies. A couple crawled over to me and climbed in my lap! I was trying to do the video with just two puppies together on the deck -- no Syd and no other person -- and that was just too much, too soon for them.

While it is good for puppies to have new experiences, we also want to be respectful of their development -- clearly being outside with just one littermate is more than a 19 day old puppy can happily tolerate. If you think about it, they would be a grave danger if outside and alone like that -- so no wonder a puppy is hard-wired to be upset about being put in that situation. In another week or so they will happily explore outside -- but not yet :)

So instead I sat next to their whelping box and filmed -- and then turned it into about eight minutes of what I thought were some very interesting and fun puppy antics; I hope you enjoy it.

8:00 p.m.

Good Night!

The Halloween photos were adorable! I think some of the girls might like to be firefighters, too. And real men wear pink, so give the boys a shot at being princesses!

Enjoy is an understatement! Thanks, as always, for taking the time to do this. You know, we will be ok if you don't have the time. We might faint and fall down w/o pix or videos to get us through our day, but we will survive! ;-) Don't forget to take care of you!

Oh, they are so adorable! Poor Pippi, all that walking around to find someone awake but no luck. I guess she figured if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Thanks for the smiles.

Trick or Treat.....the video was really a treat. I think you need to keep an eye on Pippi...I think she was definitely looking for something. She may be a puppy genius. Or she may be a party girl and you may have to send her to Catholic girl...what will it be. Those puppy heads are so darn cute I can't believe it. They have grown a TON since last week. Thank you for doing these for us M-A.

I think she was doing nose work or tracking..."I know my mom was here somewhere"!
It's amazing the progress from puppy piles to crashing everywhere in the whelping box being ok to be alone.
So very precious and I love the videos and pictures; I don't think I can survive if you take a day off; we would all worry if you all were ok! Days off only if you warn us first.
Have a wonderful ALL!
