Day 20

This morning I was in the kitchen getting the big dogs fed when I heard a very distinct, small bark from the living!!! Just one bark -- SO CUTE!!!!

And there is more!!! I had the puppies on the floor so I could change/clean their whelping box, and once it was done I sat down to visit - and Squeaker toddled over and sniffed my leg -- and wagged his tail!!!!! OH MY GOSH -- adorable! And then Austin did the same thing -- so many milestones in just one morning :)

This is a great age -- they are very social but not dangerous yet because there are no teeth. So they mouth and kiss and cuddle and try to climb in laps -- but no blood! The perfect puppy age might be about three weeks :)

They now regularly engage with Syd as something more than a meal -- this is London...

The chaos after nursing -- don't the puppies look ginormous?!

In our first litter I was convinced the entire litter had blue eyes, having never seen normal puppy eyes up close and personal before. Now I know not to panic -- and we have eyes that are already turning brown, which usually means that they will be quite dark. This is Austin...

Z, London, and Barcelona on the top bunk...

Z and London before Barcelona rolled in...

I love how they bite an entire nose! Here are Barcelona and London -- notice the white on their toes as the differences among the puppies is an excellent way to tell them apart.

This is Z and Barcelona...

Z and Barcelona  again -- the official Happy Halloween photo!

More puppy tricks and treats later...

11:00 a.m.

I am sorry to inflict additional cuteness on you but I cannot help it -- these puppies are simply adorable and get more so by the hour, although that hardly seems possible!

Let's start with Squeaker and a very plump littermate :)

This can't be good -- I am not sure the cat that Dear Husband calls the, "Long-haired, Cross-eyed Killer" ever since the unfortunate Chippy episode is going to be a positive influence on sweet London. However, at least Karma is not confusing the puppies for small rodents...

London is a very social puppy -- loves to crawl in laps and be held...

The puppies are starting to figure out that there is a big, new world out there beyond the edge of the whelping box...

And there I was with camera in hand when a certain puppy became the first to get her front feet on the edge! Yep -- love that Pip-ster...

Z (more white on toes) and Barcelona (more black on nose) show that they are good puppies who are not trying to escape...

And just in case you did not catch how very handsome Z is, here he is again...

In addition to Pippi's milestone of climbing, we have a couple of puppies who are lifting ears to sounds! All of them are having longer awake time, although they still spend the VAST majority of time sleeping. This is not only a pretty litter, but they are mellow and sweet puppies -- and very cuddly :)

5:30 p.m.

I have exciting news! They are trying to scamper!!!! It doesn't quite work but they sure look cute trying, even if they do fall over :) And they are playing in little groups and not just pairs...

Squeaker -- he sure is cute!

Barcelona looking over the edge of the whelping box -- I think Pippi is a bad influence because Barcelona actually got up on the edge as well!

And just look at this incredibly cute girl -- Heidi Jr.!

Let me narrate this for you: "MOM -- EEEWWWWWWW!!!!!" (look closely)

Love checking in several times a day!!! They seem to change and grow by the hour!!! Certainly not surprised that it was Pippi trying to escape:)
