It is really too bad that Harper B for Breed Me Not won't have a litter because of her bad knees -- for one thing, she is so nurturing...

But there is likely an inherited component to blown knees, and while needing a knee surgery or two (or a brace) is not the worst problem a dog can have, I cannot -- in good conscience -- breed Harper with that question mark over the issue of inheritance.

Sometimes I grieve for the loss of the puppies Harper could have had -- but sorrow over a choice doesn't mean it is the wrong one; it just means it was a sad one.

Trying to get a photo of two puppies is entertaining -- this was last night's results...

Aren't they cute?!

I hope your Wednesday is wonderful heart

I completely understand why you won't be breeding Harper, and wish so much that other breeders would be as conservative. But I also wish it were different, because Harper IS such a lover, and is so sweet and affectionate. She will always be the perfect puppy nanny, however. <3
