Smoke from a Not-so Distant Fire

I feel like today is the official end of summer. Although classes start Thursday, I am heading to a retreat today and have meetings and events galore this week -- good-bye, summer.

Like Kay, I am not unhappy about bidding farewell to the summer heat -- or the SMOKE. I took this yesterday afternoon from the deck...

The mountains did not go away -- the smoke is just covering them :( Breathing is not healthy in such conditions but of course, not breathing is also rather problematic.

By evening we could see the mountains again...

...but the smoke is a constant presence from the LoloPeak Fire, which is marching down our valley. At this moment, air quality is rated as Unhealthy and so my morning bike ride was cancelled -- I hope it is better by this evening.

We have an evacuation plan -- how creepy is that?! We need rain or snow ASAP!

Wish someone would find a way to divert a few Houston rain clouds to Montana and Arizona.

I am ready for the rescue of rain (in our case from heat) myself. I am doing a rain dance for us all.
