Evening Update

Cadi, Harper and I are having a campout tonight in the van in the parking lot of the Pet ER - Galen is home with the other dogs since Dear Husband is out of town. The campout was the Middle Road that was suggested by Mikelle, our usual vet - the Pet ER wanted to keep her and that wasn't going to work for me so here we are.

Cadi is currently getting fluids here beside me and feeling much better than she was so that is good. Tomorrow morning she will have an echocardiogram and likely have the fluid around her heart drained by the excellent Specialist we have here in Missoula.

This is not likely to have a good outcome, friends - we need to be honest. We will hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

This has been a most shocking day - a stunning turn of events, to say the least.

I can only imagine how hard this must be for you and how shocking- having undergone a similar situation a year or so ago...You are doing the very best thing for her- staying with her and not leaving...good for you....I would not leave my dog either....I wish you as good a night as possible and hope that little Harper B is a comfort to you and that Cadi rallies round. And sometimes these heart related things can have a long shelf -life and dogs can do pretty well for quite awhile just like some people do better than others with heart issues. Our mission on earth is to do the very best we can for our dear dog friends while we have them and you are certainly doing that so keep the faith...We are all thinking of you near and far....with peace....Carol

There is nothing we can say--we are stunned--but please know that we are with you. And we, too, will hope for the best. Keep each other warm tonight, and we'll hope for good news tomorrow.

NOT what I planned to sit down and read tonight! I am so worried - what were her symptoms? One of my human babies had a pericardial effusion after having a pneumonia infection - drained the fluid and she sailed through it like a champ. Any chance of it being something like that??
Praying for all of you.

Amazing how things can change in the blink of an eye. I am so hoping for some better news in the morning. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers.

I am like the rest...I Never expected to hear about this situation w/Cadi....I struggled to keep from crying while I was reading this post.
After reading my emails I went outside to play w/Mieke & my little Russell Terrier. I was stroking Mieke's shoulder and felt a lump half the size of my hand...oh no...I must not panic or let Mieke know I'm scared... but I am very scared...And I found Another lump this evening... Tomorrow Mieke & I will be at the vet's... I don't expect to get an exact answer tomorrow...the waiting game begins.
I wish I could give you a hug, Mary-Ann...but you do have my prayers.
