A Delivery & Baby Daddy & Heart Montana

Sydney has been working on a hole for over a week and so I actually had her x-rayed to ensure that she was not pregnant with a puppy or two; she wasn't. However, that did not stop her from having a baby!

I knew it was time this morning when she grabbed an article of clothing and ran off with it to the bed, which is apparently the new Baby Nest since she does not have access to her hole. A dirty shirt seemed like an unfortunate baby and so I brought out the Most Favorite Baby Ever: Pirate Chicken Baby...

It was love at first sight -- a tender and sweet mother/Baby Pirate Chicken moment.

And now Sydney is on the bed, regularly ensuring Pirate Chicken Baby is alive by pressing his tummy, which makes him squeal reassuringly. Dear Husband is in Utah this weekend and so Sydney has the bed all to herself -- good timing :) The other girls are a bit confused because Sydney is growling at them for being anywhere close to the bedroom. I elected to just close the door to the nursery and let the new family have some private time. Sigh.

Later

Two things -- I wanted to share that Aspen Green's bloodwork shows an amazing improvement in her liver values! Unbelievable!

Second, look at what Gail just sent! These are two pictures of Murphy from the G Litter (so Sydney's littermate) with his own collection of babies on a bed...

So sweet heart

Ahoy Mateys! More pictures of the new baby...

Pirate Chicken Baby must favor the dad...

Later

Maybe it is good that everyone thinks Montana is so cold and snowy -- less people to share the perfect state with :) Today we trained outside and played fetch -- and this is what it looked like...

That is Zoey - but she is not the only one who LOVES to chase balls. Here is Harper B for BALL.NOW.

Harper B for Ball Chasing Fiend...

This is Halo at ten and her granddaughter, Harper B, at 16 months...

And just Halo :)

I hope you are having a stunningly nice weekend.

Awwww, if this isn't the sweetest... with a hint of sadness & longing for what might have been. Precious photograph.
What a wonderful mama.
(That's one lucky Pirate Chicken Baby!)

I LOVE THAT DOG! That is all.

I had to laugh when I read about Syd this morning, because her brother Murphy does the same thing! Murphy has a "nest" in the living room which he makes from any article of clothing, dish towel or other loose soft articles he can find. But it doesn't stop there. He also has "babies" that he carries gently to his nest. His "babies" are all stuffed animals: pheasant, baby berner, turkey, and now one of my stuffed bears that I use as part of the living room decor. (He will gently pull it off of the chair or couch that I have it placed it on, and trot it over to his nest.) Even though his favorite game is tug-of-war, he will NOT play tug of war with his "babies". And he does not clutter his nest with his other toys - only the babies! What a big sweet boy he is! I love that he has such a nurturing side.

Remember when Zaida had her "litter" ? She had 4 stuffed animals. With the same behavior. We went to a dog show and I only brought two along. She whined and paced and looked for the other two until I bought her two more stuffed toys. She had a nest in the middle of our hotel room bed. She licked them, sniffed them and whined to them. One was the yellow squeaky bear that was Ziggy's baby. She kept squeaking it all night in the hotel room. I had to put them in her crate at the show- she knew if she had all four. She took good care of them for several days and then was it was over. I thought it was really sweet too.
So congratulations to Sydney on her baby. Much easier than a real puppy- you can sleep and not worry about it :) But sad too.

Great photos.

Sydney's got that nesting instinct. She'll make a good mommy...But one question - just who is the dad?

And it seems that your corner of Montana has been light on snow this year? But I bet this doesn't stop the girls from enjoying the cold, not to mention the exercise!

Gem has a false pregnancy after every heat cycle. She is much better to her false puppies than she was when she actually had puppies. She is very attentive and must have them with her all the time. Her real puppies she couldn't wait to get away from! Once she decided they were done eating she was up and out. This last false pregnancy she decided that Randy and I were her puppies and she must sleep with us at night, on the bed, right between us, in case we should need her at any time. She was hot and panting which was somewhat like having a "magic fingers" bed like they used to have in motels.

Keep those numbers improving Aspen, you are quite the miracle girl. If you make it to the national specialty I will let you share the girls' fresh green tripe!

Wow. What a terrific photo of Halo with her granddaughter, Harper. How wonderful to see the generations together. Beautiful backdrop, too. There's obviously a lot to love about Montana.

And the ever agile-flying-high-in-the-sky Zoey? She's simply amazing!

Love seeing the photos of your girls, M-A. Thanks for sharing them.

Peggy- Fingers, toes & paws crossed for our miracle girl to make it to Specialty! I just placed an ad in the program in honor of Aspen. Here's hoping!!!

I love _all_ of the photos, but if I had to choose, my favorites are Harper B play bowing waiting for the ball to be thrown, and Halo and Harper together. And Murphy-what a lovebug. That is my kind of boy :) Aspen-you are thrilling all of us! Keep up the good work momma Tiffany! I had one of those chickens once (Henrietta), but all of my dogs wre slight horrified by her shrieks, so I gave her away ;)
